Over 30,000 people have visited Splash World water park in Southport since it reopened in May.

The centre, on Esplanade in Southport, had been closed for over three and a half years after a series of structural defects were uncovered.

This year families from Southport and beyond have been flooding back in to enjoy all it has to offer.

The attraction offers features including fast flumes and river rides, a relaxing bubble spa and a toddler area and water play area including tipping buckets and fountains. There’s a poolside café as well for families to enjoy.

Splash World staff have been praised for their hard work in getting through “a busy summer”.

In a report to councillors, Sefton Council Health and Wellbeing Cabinet Members Cllr Ian Moncur said: “Over 30,000 visitors have attended Splash World since reopening achieving over £400,000 in Splash World admissions.

“An extremely busy summer for Splash World and all staff deserve great credit in enabling a smooth operation.

“Staffing levels have been extremely challenging over this summer period and thanks to those dedicated staff who have gone above and beyond.”

He added: “Splash World monthly inclusive ‘Quiet Night’ session for children and young people with varying disabilities started on Thursday 17th August. More than 65 families are attending (approx. 250 people), with children and siblings, supported by 35 Aiming High staff.”

Splash World reopened on Saturday 27th May 2023.

Water lovers young and old have since been able to rediscover Splash World’s exhilarating aquatic adventures.

Accompanying the venue’s reopening has been a new Splash World website, at www.splashworldsouthport.com, with an online booking system, meaning families can reserve their tickets in advance.

The venue temporarily closed in late 2019 to allow for a comprehensive refurbishment project to take place after a series of issues were discovered at the attraction which have since been fixed.

Last year, Sefton Council was awarded £2.2million after it lodged a claim against the scheme’s original developer.

The facility was closed in 2019 due to what the council said were “significant Health and Safety concerns”.
