One of Southport town centre’s oldest pubs has undergone an extensive transformation and revamped its food offering, with some exciting new initiatives planned for customers!
Julie Goodwin has brightened up The Hoghton Arms, on the corner of Hoghton Street and London Street in Southport town centre, making it much lighter, brighter and more welcoming for families.
Coming soon is The Business Lunch Club, where people can enjoy discounts and have lunch waiting for when they arrive, and a brand new Carvery.
Julie has earned an impressive reputation for the quality of her home cooked food at previous pubs she has operated, including The Cheshire Lines and Connolly’s, both on King Street.
Food was previously only available at The Hoghton Arms during weekends but it’s now on offer seven days a week.
The menu has been revamped and expanded, with Sunday roast dinners – plus live singers performing for part of the afternoon – now on the menu.
There are special Lunch Club and Senior Club offers too.
One exciting new addition, especially for people working in Southport town centre, is a new addition due to come in later this September.
Jule Goodwin said: “We have got some really exciting things coming up! On Monday 21st September we are launching The Business Lunch Club.
“The concept for this is to support working in local businesses. They can sign up and order via our website, letting us know what they’d like to eat and the time they want to arrive, and we’ll have their meals ready to be served for the moment they arrive.
“If they sign up online, they can enjoy 10% off their food too.
“Too often people go out for lunch and they wait too long for their food, so they only have 10 minutes or so to eat it before they have to rush back into work.
“Or you can order your lunch with us and we’ll have it ready to collect, so you can take it away and eat it at work.
“It’s much nicer to enjoy a freshly-cooked hot meal. No more cold sandwiches for lunch!
“Later this year we are launching our new Carvery! Our brewery, Trust Inns, has been so supportive of what we’re doing here.
“They have been in and measured up and will be creating a Carvery Counter which we think will be extremely popular.
“It will be available every Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“Throughout December, we will offer a Christmas Carvery, which will be available every day of the week. People will be able to come in and enjoy their Christmas lunch with friends, family or workmates.
“The pub only used to serve food during Fridays and Saturdays, but now we serve freshly-made, home-cooked food seven days a week.
“We have boosted our kitchen team by bringing in Chef Andy from The Cheshire Lines and Chef Dean, who has come from Connolly’s.
“We have some great offers for customers. They include our Lunch Club, which is available Monday to Friday between midday and 3pm. You can enjoy quick, freshly-prepared favourites for busy lunchtimes with a choice of dishes for just £8.95, including teas or coffee.
“Our Senior Club runs Monday to Friday between midday and 4pm. We offer smaller portions of some of our popular main meals with tea or coffee and a dessert for just £9.50 each.
“Look out too for our Weekly Specials, including Mad Monday, Wings Wednesday and Fish Friday For Two!
“Our main menu includes Breakfast (until 1pm), Pub Classics, Burgers, Sandwiches and Ciabattas, Sharers and Snacks, Loaded Fries, Salads, Jackets, and more.
“We are now also serving Afternoon Tea between 2pm and 5pm each day which is perfect for catch-ups, birthdays and special occasions.
“Diners are going to love our delicious Sunday Lunches where we’ll have a choice of starters and mains including Hand Carved Beef, Succulent Chicken breast, Honey Mustard Roast Ham, or Veggie Option of the Day. One course is just £12.50 or two courses for £14.50.
“Our Sunday lunches are fantastic! They will be available between midday and 6pm every Sunday, while people can also enjoy live music alongside their lunch between 3pm and 6pm every Sunday too.
“We have added a second cask ale pump so we can offer more choice of cask ales, and have increased our selection of spirits.”
