A new perfume shop and a new cafe are due to open at Beales in Southport.

CEO Tony Brown said the store is “trading beyond our expectations”, after hundreds of people queued to enjoy the official opening last Thursday (12th August).

The Perfume Shop is due to open its doors this Sunday (22nd August). The UK’s largest specialist fragrance retailer, with 255 stores across the UK and Ireland, sells all major designer fragrance brands, classic and celebrity perfumes, aftershaves and body products at value for money prices.

The new Remedy at Beales cafe is due to open on the ground floor of the store next week, offering customers beautiful views into Wayfarers Arcade.

The award-winning Medusa Gems, which already operates a shop at the entrance of Wayfarers Arcade, is also opening a concession in Beales.

The new department store is already attracting large numbers of visitors into Southport, to the benefit of other local businesses in the town.

Beales CEO Tony Brown said: “I am incredibly pleased that the opening of Beales has helped to make such a difference, especially in the continued revitalisation of Lord Street.

“Our new store is currently trading beyond our expectations.

“We are very pleased with the direction, the product mix and the product placement on offer. We still have more new brands to come in and join us.”

One of the attractions of the venture is its collaboration with a number of quality local businesses which have opened concessions in the building.

They include: Baby Love, Naked Peak, Lucy Lou’s Boutique, Plaza Cards, Miss Attire, Molloys Furnishers, In-Time, Medusa Gems, Remedy and others. They are joined by well-known national and international brands including: Forever New, Jack & Jones, Craghoppers, Carabou, Shuropody and many more.

Shoppers have been enjoying walking in to look around the three floors of retail, with ladies and mens fashions, furniture, electrical goods, bedroom furnishings, shoes, accessories, gifts, greetings cards, baby clothes and more.

Tony Brown said: “We are only a week in and over the next month, we will find out what our customers in Southport want and what they don’t want.

“We still have new brands due to come into the store, and we are always interested in talking to other local businesses who may be interested in joining us. We have more things to come.

“We are now looking forward to The Perfume Shop joining us, which we expect will be trading from Sunday morning, while our new Remedy at Beales cafe will also be trading soon.”

Susannah Porter owns the successful Remedy cafe in the Town Hall Gardens opposite Beales and Remedy on Botanic Road in Churchtown. She is looking forward to opening her third venture, ‘Remedy at Beales’ in the next few days as fitting out work continues to take place.

Susannah said: “Seeing Besles opening in Southport has been absolutely brilliant. I think it has so many good brands in there, and so many great local businesses are involved.

“We are looking forward to opening our new Remedy at Beales next week.”
