New monthly Evolution Comedy Club launches at The Atkinson in Southport

The first ever Evolution Comedy Club takes place at The Atkinson in Southport this Saturday (18th September). 

The first line-up features Big Lou, Phil Chapman, Adam Staunton and Mike Wilkinson.

Further Evolution Comedy Club nights will take place on the first Saturday of each month, presenting a side-splitting night of laughter. Expect to see the finest comedians on the circuit and a different host at every show.

The event takes place in The Atkinson – Studio Clubstyle between 8pm and 10pm, doors open 7.30pm. Age 18+.

Host – Big Lou

Manchester based Big Lou, is a well known face on the comedy scene who has a commanding stage presence matched by his punchlines and timing of their delivery.

Big Lou has played most of the premier comedy venues in the North West and beyond.

Phil Chapman

Phil is an exciting act on the UK comedy circuit. He is also a talented Host and Compère and presenter and a gifted voice over artist.

Phil’s happy-go-lucky style and mischievous on-stage persona, delights audiences far and wide.

Phil began performing comedy in 2006 and after establishing himself on the local circuit, he began travelling further afield and is now a regular compère as headlining at a number of independent comedy nights.

Adam Staunton

A confident and demanding stage presence has seen scouse funnyman Adam Staunton perform alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, including John Bishop and Sarah Millican.

Mike Wilkinson

Mike started his career by reaching the finals of the So You Think You’re Funny new act competition in 2000 and being a finalist of the City Life Comedian of the Year for North West acts the following year.

Now he’s a regular on the circuit and has supported such comedy greats as Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas, Ross Noble, Dave Spikey and Jason Manford on their UK tours.

Overflowing with down to earth Northern charm, Mike has a wonderful laid-back style. The laughs come thick and fast with Wilkinson’s dry humour and razor sharp wit…but hecklers beware, that cheeky grin can lash out and crush a heckler at lightning speed.

As well as being very funny, Mike is also a talented musician and plays the piano and guitar.

Mike has performed on several TV and radio shows including Gagging For It (Granada), Live From the Albert Dock (Mersey TV) and Running Late (BBC).

When he’s not killing it on the comedy scene, he can be found working on his farm rearing his own hens, and often brings a gift of a few fresh eggs to the show.

Evolution Comedy Club takes place in the studio with a clubstyle layout. If you purchase lower level seating, tables and chairs are available on a first come first serve basis. If you purchase balcony seating, you will be assigned a seat number for the show.

The bar opens at 7.30pm, half an hour before the show begins, and will remain open until the show finishes.
