An MD Travel executive coach

A North West firm which specialises in airport transfers, limousine and executive vehicle hire and coach trips is welcoming the return of flights to and from the UK.

MD Travel, based in Slaidburn Crescent in Marshside in Southport, played a part in rescuing people who have been stranded abroad during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Now they are delighted to see flights to other countries resume, and have also started planning UK trips for families in mind to places such as Alton Towers and Chester Zoo.

The first Britons touched down in Spain on Sunday after Madrid lifted its ban on foreign tourists and opened its beaches in 100 degree-plus heat.

Travel firms have slashed the price of a one-week holiday to £300 after the Government  signalled it could bring in ‘travel corridors’ to 10 countries from July 4, with no 14-day quarantine on return to the UK.

Spain’s reopening after three months of lockdown comes as travel firms have seized on talk of ‘air bridges,’ and brought down prices in an effort to tempt families into a Summer beach break.

Some big announcements are due to be made on the easing of further coronavirus lockdown restrictions by Prime Minister Boris Johnson today, both in the House of Commons this afternoon and at the Downing Street briefing later this evening.

MD Travel owner Mike Heybourne said: “This is great news for people waiting to go on holiday.

“Tui are back flying on the 11th of July and Spain is open for UK holiday makers. M DTravel, the largest airport transfer, is waiting for people’s calls.”

The firm is also getting ready to help families enjoy more day trips with the UK.

Mike Heybourne said: “MD Travel coach trips will be up and running very soon. We have trips with kids in mind already planned like Gullivers World, Alton Tower, /Chester Zoo, Windermere and many more.

“We are also planning trips to Bury Market, Cheshire Oaks and the Trafford Centre as soon as lockdown eases further and it is safe to do so.”

MD Travel has been operating from Southport for many years, with its airport transfer and minibus shuttle service running to all the major airports are taking away the stress of holiday goers driving themselves, with a wide range of vehicles from our Saloon cars to 16\12\8\6\5 seater minibuses available.

The firm, which is manned 24 hours a day, also runs executive coaches as well as a fleet of limousines and other luxury vehicles and runs an MOT station.

They are pleased to see life returning to the economy after a difficult three months during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mike Heybourne said: “Everything that we do has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic – the airports, no flights, the schools closed, no coaches or minibuses, and no coaches for day trips , concerts, football matches, or nights out.

“MD Travel was  fully booked out for Aintree races in April and it was cancelled and we were also booked out for all the prom night limousines for the end of school. It has been a nightmare.

“Instead we have been busy over the past few months rescuing people flying in from abroad.

“We have also been helping another great local business, Fylde Fish Bar, to deliver fish and chips for their new delivery service.

“We started with one car and one minibus in 1987, 33 years ago. We have been through the fuel strikes, volcanoes erupting and now Covid-19 and we are still here and ready to go again.

“It has been tough, but as lockdown eases off and countries are reopening their borders, we are now taking bookings for airports for July, August and September, so things are looking up!”
