The Queenscourt Hospice Star Trekk walk in Southport

The annual fundraising Star Trekk walk for Queenscoirt Hospice is returning in May 2024 and organisers are on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals to join as Marshals.

The iconic night walk starts and finishes at Southport Pleasureland with Trekkers setting off at 7.30pm on Friday 3rd May 2024.

Since Star Trekk began 18 years ago, participating Trekkers have raised over £1 million for Queenscourt. Star Trekk has a fun party atmosphere, bringing the local community together every year.

Star Trekk is not just a walk, it is an energising evening filled with entertainment, fancy dress, live music and much more. Many walk in memory of a loved one, or because Queenscourt Hospice has supported them personally, or some simply want to enjoy a fun night out with friends.

With just weeks remaining until the popular event, Queenscourt’s Fundraising Team are calling upon members of the wider community to step forward and play a key role in one of Queenscourt’s biggest fundraising nights.

It takes over 80 Marshals to ensure the safety of participants,  and this year Queenscourt needs to enlist 40 more people as Marshals to make this happen. Marshals are not required to stay for the full event – organisers will allocate a couple of hours for each pair of Marshals to stay at their given location, helping to ensure that Trekkers stay safely on the correct route.

Dianne Gillespie, Events Fundraiser at Queenscourt, said:

“We are reaching out to people in the wider community to pair up with a friend and become a vital part of our Star Trekk Night Walk.

“Being a Marshal is not only a chance to contribute to a worthy cause, but it’s also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the excitement of the event without having to walk the full 10k route.”

Marshals will be positioned along the 10K route and will be provided with all the necessary equipment, including a map, instructions, and high-visibility vests. It’s an excellent way to support a much-loved local charity whilst enjoying a fun-filled evening.

“We’re counting on the support of passionate individuals who are willing to lend a helping hand,” added Dianne. “Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or looking to try something new, being a Marshal at our Star Trekk Night Walk promises to be an unforgettable experience.”
