Michelle Foster has been bowled over by the support for her Big Cricket Club Walk fundraiser in Southport.

Michelle, a cricket wife, player and mum to two under-11 players, organised the event on Sunday (13th September 2026) as part of her fundraising efforts to support Queenscourt Hospice.

She is taking place in Strictly Queenscourt at The Prince Of Wales Hotel in Southport on 14th November 2026.

Michelle stepped up for her first fundraising innings at her Big Cricket Club Walk fundraiser, as she was joined by family, friends and supporters walking between four local cricket clubs.

Michelle, the Business Development Manager for Bear Roofing, wanted to see ‘every step taken for Queenscourt Hospice’.

The 19k family started at Southport Trinity Cricket Club, at The Rookery, on Roe Lane in Southport at 10.30am.

Tiny Treasures Hearts & Hooves CIC ponies, Bear and Foxy, were there to wave off the walkers.

The second stop was the New Victoria Cricket Club at Crossens Recreational ground.

Next was Fleetwood Hesketh Cricket Club on Fylde Road in Marshside.

The fourth visit was Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club on Trafalgar Road in Birkdale.

Local businesses including Churcher Estates in Southport town centre, Fore financial planning in Birkdale Village, The Imperial pub on Albert Road and The Woollen pig in Crossens offered support to walkers along the route.

The final stop saw everyone heading back to The Rookery for a well-earned drink and a sit down.

Adults were asked to donate £7, with children £3, babies free.

Michelle Foster said:

“Did you see us on the walk on Sunday? Did you pull over or run out of your house?! A lot of you did!

“It was brilliant. Cars were stopping left right and centre, and people were running out of their houses to donate.
“It was a 19k walk with the most amazing fundraising-helping friends I could have wished for.

“We enjoyed pony visits from Bear and Foxy – thank you to Tiny Treasures Equestrian, Hearts & Hooves CIC. We were looked after at Trinity by Mrs Campbell, our saviour!

“There was a gorgeous Glitter Station, thank you Victoria Hammond and Helen Gillies for making us all sparkly.

“Angie Bush helped so much with the poster design.

“I’d like to thank my hubby and children for having to listen me talk about this walk and to all my questions and organising I’ve been doing  – they will be glad its done now!

“I’m grateful to Churcher Estates for providing toilets, bottled drinks and chocolates for the walkers, and to Fore Financial for providing toilets, bottled drinks and chocolates.

“I’d like to thank Southport & Birkdale Sports Club for offering walkers jugs of juice and toilets;

The Imperial Pub for toilets and water; The The Woollen Pig in Crossens for water and toilets.

“Cakes and treats were made and brought by Gill Peet and Kyla Watts for our Fleetwood Hesketh CC stop.

“The Grand Southport and Southport Community Sports at Southport YMCA kindly donated prizes.

“We will collect the last few poster designs then get them judged!
