Father Christmas has arrived in Birkdale Village in Southport!
You can find him outside the Busy Bodies shop, ready for the Birkdale Fayre this Sunday (1st December 2024).
Santa will then be moving to sit on the benches by the Christmas tree in Churchtown Village.
He’s the latest work of art by the superb Southport Hookers guerrilla yarn bombers, who install all the crochet postbox toppers throughout Southport and recently created the stunning Poppy Drape with 10,000 crochet poppies in the Remembrance Gardens on Lord Street.
Hopefully lots of people will take photos sitting next to Father Christmas – if you do, we’d love to see them in our Stand Up For Southport Facebook group!

Suzanne from Southport Hookers said: ‘We have also created a 5ft snowman and snowdog which is going in the telephone box in Birkdale village which will stay there all December.
‘We have been planning for Christmas since August this year and it has taken a real group effort.
‘Santa has been worked on by eight of our lovely hookers.
‘The snowman and snowdog has been made by our very talented Lesley and everyone has helped with the many Christmas postbox toppers that we will be putting out over the next two weeks.
‘We are also still working on our crochet Christmas tree which will be positioned in Churchtown mid December.
‘Phew – it’s been a busy couple of months!’
