‘Outstanding and dedicated learner’ Heather Skelland has been honoured as Learner of the Year at the 2023 Time To Shine Awards.
The awards, held at Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa, celebrated the very best people and departments at Southport Hospital and Ormskirk Hospital.
Heather Skelland recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education studies and throughout the course was an outstanding and dedicated learner with a natural talent for teaching.
Whether it was attending educational conferences, participating in workshops, or collaborating with colleagues, she consistently sought every opportunity to further her professional development.
A Finalist in the category is Jasmin Groom.
Jasmin takes her training very seriously and has impressed everyone with her attitude and commitment.
Colleagues say she has a “beautiful personality’’ and is compassionate towards her patients, going out of her way at all times to ensure they are as comfortable as possible during their stay.
Yasmin Hesketh is also honoured as a Finalist.
Yasmin is a determined learner who has overcome a number of personal and family challenges on her learning journey.
Despite this she has always remained positive and her compassion and dedication to providing top quality care while working on her ward has shone through her studies.
Individuals and teams from a wide range of areas were celebrated for their “amazing commitment’’ to providing the best possible care for local patients and their families at the 2023 Time to Shine Awards.
It was hosted by Liverpool radio personality Peter Price while sponsors included Vinci Facilities, Hill Dickinson and Weightmans.
Chief Executive Ann Marr OBE said: I have been highly impressed by all of the inspiring nominations we received from colleagues, patients and members of the public and the message I would like to pass on is that you should never underestimate the difference you make to those around you, each and every day.’’
