People can enjoy some superb Halloween themed tunes when the Feer Street beer festival takes place in Southport this weekend!

The Festival is taking place at Tap and Bottles in Cambridge Arcade in Southport town centre from tonight (Friday 28th October) to Sunday (30th October 2022).

This Saturday Dave Thornley, the owner of Quicksilver Records on Market Street in Southport, will be playing a selection of his favourite spooky vinyls from 8pm onwards.

Dave said: “This Saturday I’ll be playing some odd and scary tunes on vinyl down at Tap and Bottles from 8pm to 10pm, come on down and join me!

“People can enjoy a selection of classic vinyl records including Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the Rocky Horror Show and others, plus some good independent stuff.

“I am thinking between 10pm and 10.45pm of playing Alice Cooper’s album Welcome to My Nightmare.

“I have been a customer at Tap and Bottles for a while now. I love it in there!

“I enjoy doing other vinyl afternoons and evenings at Tap and Bottles, around once a month.

“Hopefully their Feer Street Festival will do really well!”

Feer Street will feature a mini smoke fest with four smoked cask ales on, one of which will be a 8% stock ale (a traditional British strong, fruity ale style).

The cask beers will include a green-hopped beer, brewed in conjunction with the Handyman Brewery of Liverpool, a pumpkin mild with Southport’s own Hex Brewery and a wooden barrel-aged strong stout from the Neptune Brewery of Maghull.

Also on cask they will be serving ales from the North Riding and Redwillow breweries, and Halloween-themed beers from the Reedley Hallows Brewery and from the ever-popular Salopian Brewery.

There’ll also be plenty to keep the craft keg beer lover happy with an offering from the Kernel Brewery, and a trio of strong Halloween-themed beers from Rivington Brewery brewed in collaboration with the Track, Pomona Island and Chainhouse breweries.

Other craft keg beers will include three pumpkin beer kegs: an ice-cream pale, a porter and a sour respectively from the Top Rope, Elusive and Vault City breweries (Top Rope is another local brewery based in Bootle).

Entertainment will include competitions for the best carved pumpkin, best costume and a conker tournament.

This festival will provide you with an opportunity to try a great selection of real ales and craft beers that won’t be available anywhere else locally, and for obvious reasons you won’t be able to drink the special Hallowe’en brews at any other time of the year.

The Tap and Bottles is in Cambridge Walks in Southport town centre. This arcade runs between Lord Street and Chapel Street in Southport town centre; the Lord Street entrance is next to the Atkinson arts centre. Buses run nearby on Lord Street and the railway station is just a short walk away.
