Southport FC

Peterborough Sports 2 Southport FC 0

A disappointing afternoon in Peterborough who are rapidly turning into a bogey side as they won against Southport FC for the third time out of three with a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Southport FC never really got going all afternoon but as the 70th minute approached a 0-0 result was looking a certainty. The game turned on 72 minutes when a penalty was awarded after a push in the box was spotted by the referee.

The nearest we came all afternoon was a Harry Flowers header from a corner that flashed narrowly wide on 61 minutes.

There were a few half chances but it was not going to be our afternoon.

The home side made sure of all three points in the 82nd minute and there was no way back.

To make matters worse Josh Hmami was shown a red card in the 90th minute after a foul, he had earlier been booked for disputing the penalty decision.

Line Up: Renshaw, Doyle, Flowers, Evans, Morgan, Carver, Quansah, Hmami, O’Neill(Bainbridge 70), Burgess(Watson 70) Holmes.

Unused Subs: Thomson, Anson, McMillan.
