A new business venture is set to launch in Southport this afternoon, and it’s one you truly have to hear to believe. Discretion Hearing Audiologists, based on Wesley Street, has announced the launch of a unique range of handcrafted earwax candles, created from their daily earwax removal treatments.
The specialist audiology team, which offers free hearing tests and professional earwax removal to patients across the Northwest, has been quietly stockpiling wax for months in preparation for today’s launch.
Their initial range of candles will feature local-inspired scents, including:
– By the Beach Earwax Candy Floss – capturing the essence of Southport’s seaside charm
– ‘Birkdale Mary’ Berry Mix – a nod to Southport based home baking enthusiasts
– Ainsdale Aromas: 80-Year-Old Ear – a truly vintage scent for those who appreciate something classic
According to Discretion Hearing, stock will be available from lunchtime today, with customers invited to visit the practice to browse the selection.
However, for those eager to get their hands on a wax creation, there’s one small catch…
April Fools!
That’s right – Discretion Hearing won’t actually be launching an earwax candle range. The announcement was simply a lighthearted April Fools’ joke, inspired by a question their audiologists hear more often than you’d think!
David Quilliam, owner of Discretion Hearing, said:
“It’s funny – people actually ask us about this when we do earwax removals. We’ve joked about it for so long that we thought it’d be an amusing play today being April Fools’ Day, if we said it’s actually something we’re launching! Don’t worry, we definitely won’t be.”
While there won’t be any earwax candles for sale, Discretion Hearing does offer expert audiology services, including free hearing tests and professional earwax removal – minus the candle-making.
