People are invited to enjoy watching Southport’s Strongest 2022 when it returns this Sunday!
The popular event will take place between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 4th September 2022 at CTC Fitness, on Kensington Road Industrial Estate, Hall Road, Southport PR9 0NY.
This year Southport’s Strongest returns for its third year with over 50 athletes signed up to compete.
Competition organiser Stuart Scott and CTC Owner Mike Tobin are inviting you to come and watch grassroots strongmen!
Stuart Scott said: “The competition has grown each year with over 50 athletes, some local and some travelling from all round the country to vie for the title of Southport’s Strongest 2022.
“The athletes, in Mens and Womens categories, will compete over five events which include:
- Fingals Finger
- Axle Deadlift
- Truck Pull
- Press Medley
- Saxon Bar Grip
“Lifting starts from 10am running through the day until mid-afternoon.
“Spectators can attend for free so if you enjoy watching strongmen on the television or you want to watch men and women lift extraordinary weights and pull trucks come down!

Mike Tobin, the CTC Fitness owner, said: “We run a coached strongman session every Saturday.

“What the coaches deliver is small group training sessions , starting with our 28 day kickstart challenge.
“Everyone is coached, supported and helped with their training . However if you want to be left alone that is fine too .
“We find that 90% of our members all want the same sort of things.
“They want to move better, feel healthier, tone up, get fitter and enjoy training and exercise, so that’s exactly what we programme for.
“We include the main functional movements:

- Single Leg
- Core
- Cardio
- Conditioning
- Mobility
“If you want to get stronger we offer our powerlifting program as well.
“We keep things fun, we adjust sessions based on training history, goals, preferences and potential injuries. We are not a commercial gym where you are just a number.
“We offer: Group training; Personal training; Youth development; Strongman; Powerlifting; Weightlifting.”
