Families can look forward to an exciting line-up of events coming up at Oak Theatre and Studios near Southport this year. 

The state-of-the-art facility opened at Scarisbrick Hall School in September 2023 and offers some unmissable shows and dance camps. 

They include The Jungle Book and a Spring Dance Camp this May Half Term; a KPop Dance Disco; SIX The Musical Workshop; an interactive dinosaur show; and this year’s annual pantomime! 

Families can enjoy free parking for shows, while also being able to buy food and drink in the Gasworks Cafe at the theatre. 

Here are some of the shows to look out for: 

1 – The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book at Oak Theatre and Studios at Scarisbrick Hall School

Monday 25th May 2026, 2.30pm 

Swing into the jungle this spring and join Mowgli and friends Baloo the bear, Bagheera the panther, a gang of mischievous monkeys lead by King Louie in this enchanting new musical comedy adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s much-loved classic.

Although trouble is never far away, as the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan is on the prowl and determined to rid the jungle of all humans! This frenzy forest, jungle adventure will take you on twists and turns as with the help of the kooky and hypnotic, Kaa the snake.

This funny, exciting, and wildly entertaining new musical adaptation will be filled with catchy songs that will leave you howling with laughter. The Jungle Book will captivate the whole family and leave you jumping for joy.

3 – KPop Dance Disco

Inspired by the Global Phenomenon K-Pop Demon Hunters, Gambolling Arena proudly presents K-Pop Dance Disco at Oak Theatre!

6 – Teach Rex

Sunday 20th September 2026, 10am & 2pm

After receiving thousands of 5 star reviews for their events and selling out hundreds of shows around the UK. The award winning, Teach Rex team are delighted to be bringing this unique, interactive show to the families of Scarisbrick!

Teach Rex uses life-like dinosaurs to perform their 1 hour show, teaching children about the anatomy and life of one the most mesmerising creatures that have ever roamed our planet. The show is teamed with effects, music and gives children and their families the chance to get up close and personal with these fantastic, realistic beasts.

The new show will delve into the jaws of one of the most iconic dinosaurs to ever roam the world, the TREX. Delivered by primary school teachers, the team will take the audience on an interactive, prehistoric journey, pinpointing misconceptions surrounding this beast!

The show is suitable for children of all ages (3+ recommended) and has even proven to be extremely popular with adults. The educational part of the show runs for approximately 1 hour followed by a dinosaur meet and greet when families can get photographs next to the beasts whilst enjoying a dance.

7 – Halloween Dance Camp 2026

8 – Sleeping Beauty

11th December – 31st December 2026

Anton Benson Productions return with the magical pantomime Sleeping Beauty!

Following the huge success of last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk, they are back with another spectacular festive production running from Friday 11 December to Thursday 31 December, including a special New Year’s Eve performance.

Join Princess Aurora on a magical fairytale adventure as she falls under the wicked curse of Maleficent. Only true love’s kiss can break the spell — but will Prince Philip arrive in time to save the day?

Tickets start from just £10, making it the perfect festive treat for the whole family.

Oak Theatre and Studios, at Scarisbrick Hall, Southport Road, Scarisbrick, Lancashire, L40 9RQ, is accessible via the main school entrance via Southport Road.

The theatre typically opens 30 minutes before every show. 

Food and drink is available to buy in the adjacent Gasworks cafe bar. 

Free parking is a short walk away from the theatre so please arrive ahead of time and enjoy refreshments in the cafe bar.
