Since winning Sefton Young Sportsperson Of The Year Award sponsored by DT Hughes Contractors  at the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards last year, 11-year-old Isabella Dixon has gone from ‘strength to strength’.

She is an England kickboxing international and British Taekwondo champion with a big dream of becoming an Olympic star.

Last year she went on to win four world titles and only last month, Isabella, from Netherton, added eight world titles to her belt at the World Kickboxing Association (WKA) competition where she also won top overall fighter.

She has a black belt in Taekwondo where she is a three-time national champion and her Dad, Simon Dixon, said Isabella is ‘constantly looking for the next challenge’.

With support from her family, Isabella, who attends Scarisbrick Hall School near Southport, trains at Hughes Sport Karate Academy and WLM Taekwondo Club six days a week, alongside studying for school.

She trains Monday to Friday and one day on the weekend – with practice set to increase during the summer holidays.

“She’s very disciplined. On our way to competitions, Bella does her homework in the car or in hotels, she’s doing well at school.

“Every day she surprises me. She’s flying!”

Last weekend Isabella had her International Title Fight title fight in Liverpool, a ‘more professional competition’ – which she won! Simon says Isabella is ‘still the most chilled person in the room.’

With nerves not holding her back, Isabella is staying focused and improving ahead of a big competition in October, taking place in Rhodes.

Isabella will be competing at the WKU World Championships, a full-contact kickboxing competition, another step towards her dream of taking part in the Olympics.

“Her end goal is the Olympics,” says Simon.

“She has a natural drive to become better each day.

“We’re now searching for a long-term sponsor who can help her reach her biggest dream.”
