Volunteers have cleaned up the bins at the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown in Southport

For months, one of the most beautiful parks in the North West has been plagued by anti-vaccine vandals.

The yobs have blighted the beautiful Botanic Gardens in Churchtown with hundreds of anti-vax stickers plastered across bins, bollards, gates, and more besides.

The park is maintained by volunteers from the Botanic Gardens Community Association, all local people giving their time for free to keep the historic park in a pleasant state for the whole community to enjoy.

Yesterday one of the volunteers earned praise by continuing with the ongoing battle against the vandalism.

They said: “I just went to put a poster advertising our Easter event on the Botanic Gardens gate and was sidelined by the state of the new bins and the gates and the Notice Board with all the anti-vaccine stickers plastered all over them.

“It was raining so I got my WD40 and scraper out.

“It’s amazing what good you can do in an hour. And I forgot to put the poster up!”

People were quick to offer their praise.

Writing on Facebook, one local resident said: “That looks so much better. Thank you.”

Another said: “I always peel them off when I see them.”

  • If you spot any vandalism taking place at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown please call Merseyside Police on 111.
