Visit Southport, the marketing body which works to attract new visitors to our town, now has an eye-catching presence at Southport Football Club.
The organisation has seen a Visit Southport board installed at the side of the pitch ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The Visit Southport logo will also feature on club shirts this year.
A Southport FC spokesman said: “We were delighted to welcome Peter Hampson from Visit Southport to the ground to launch the shirt with the sponsor’s name on and see the new advertising board in place.
“Many thanks to Peter and the team for their sponsorship. We hope this is the start of a long and fruitful new partnership.”
Visit Southport is a public-private partnership which promotes and champions Southport locally, nationally and internationally.
It works with over 100 members and stakeholders to maintain the profile of Southport as a leading visitor, conference and event destination.
Through its work it drives an increase in both staying and day visitors, creates new business opportunities and helps to raise Southport’s profile through a number of platforms.
Visit Southport Chairman Peter Hampson said: “We are absolutely delighted to enter this sponsorship arrangement with Southport Football Club.
“There are over 90,000 people who live in Southport and a lot more within a short distance.
“We don’t tend to be focused on marketing to them so a tie-up with our local football club makes absolute sense. As the club is successful, we will be successful.
“We can also promote the club both inside the town and around the country, so it’s an absolute win-win for all of us.”

Visit Southport has endured a difficult year so far, facing the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on our town, as well as playing its part in the recovery process.
Peter Hampson said: “The team, who are existing Sefton Council employees, and the board, made of up of business owners from around the town, have had to work particularly hard to come up with the means of, one, supporting businesses during lockdown, and two, bringing people back to Southport as we are opening up.
“Clearly, as with any seaside resort, we are a seasonal town.
“Summer is hugely important and a lot of that was lost to Coronavirus.
“But we are now seeing people coming back, we are now seeing people going out to restaurants and pubs.
“We are looking forward to the club opening up soon and some local football being played.”
Southport FC Head Of Operations James Tedford said: ”This is a great opportunity for both parties to promote Southport in a positive way.
“We are aware that many visiting fans use the opportunity of a game in Southport to stay over in the town and we look to build up the links with Visit Southport to enhance their visit.”
