Chef Ellis Barrie is to return to Southport Flower Show after helping to revive one of Britain’s favourite TV cookery shows.
The restaurateur is among the celebrity chefs featured on a new series of Ready Steady Cook, currently being broadcast on BBC One.
Ellis is serving up an on-screen taster for his star turn at the country’s largest independent flower show as he steps into Southport’s demonstration kitchen in August.
It will be the third year the Liverpool-born chef has showcased his cooking talents at Southport Flower Show.
Ready Steady Cook featured a chef’s challenge against the clock using a £5 bag of ingredients and ran for over 20 series between 1996 and 2010.
The show became a firm favourite with viewers, presented first by Fern Britton and then Ainsley Harriott, who was the celebrity show opener at Southport in 2016.

The rebooted show – with the ingredients budget adjusted to £10 – is hosted by Rylan Clarke.
Ellis, 29, is already familiar with the challenges of cooking in front of the TV cameras as he featured in two series of the Great British Menu on BBC Two.
He established his reputation in 2009 after he and his brother Liam converted a chicken shed on their family’s campsite in Anglesey into the award-winning Marram Grass restaurant.
The brothers are poised to open a second restaurant – Lerpwl – at Albert Docks in their native Liverpool next month.
Ellis will appear at the Southport Flower Show on Sunday 23rd August 2020.
He said: “I think it’s fair to say that 2020 is a very busy year for me!
“After filming Ready Steady Cook and preparing for the launch of our Lerpwl restaurant, I am really looking forward to returning to Southport Flower Show in the summer.
“It will be my third time at Southport and I know that the visitors really know their food so it will be a real pleasure to be back in the demonstration kitchen.”
Southport Flower Show runs from Thursday 20th until Sunday 23rd August 2020. Advance tickets can be purchased from the website www.southportflowershow.co.uk
