People have expressed their shock and sadness at the tragic death of Brookside legend Dean Sullivan.

Dean, who played the role of Jimmy Corkhill in the Channel 4 soap between between 1986 and 2003, was due to take to the stage as Fleshcreep in the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk at The Atkinson in Southport this December.

He had died peacefully aged 68 following a short illness.

Everyone at The Atkinson and KD Theatre Productions is deeply saddened to hear the news of Dean’s death.

He recently withdrew from the show due to ill health.

The Atkinson’s Programme Manager Marie Kenny said: “It’s a very sad day and our thoughts go to Dean’s family and friends.

“We had worked closely with him over the last couple of months and he was wonderful to work with.

“He was really looking forward to being back on stage this Christmas and we were delighted to welcome him.

“When he came to The Atkinson to meet the cast and crew, he was so warm and friendly, and of course, he was the ultimate professional on stage.

“The thoughts of everyone at The Atkinson and KD Theatre Productions are with his loved ones.”
