The Giant’s Postcard has been created by Play On Productions CIC, which is based inside Wayfarers Arcade, as part of The Jolly Postman Trail, one of three elements of the Books Alive festival this October half term (24th-31st October 2026).

There are other Jolly Postman installations to explore inside Wayfarers Arcade itself too, alongside local independent cafes, art galleries, a hair and beauty salon, a yoga studio, shops, a barbers, a tattoo studio and more.

The Giants Postcard installation features a large-scale mural created as a direct replica of the postcard from The Jolly Postman book.

Serving as a striking visual backdrop and dedicated selfie spot, visitors can step up to the artwork, pose alongside the oversized scene, and feel like they’ve stepped right onto the page!

It provides a simple, memorable photo opportunity that highlights key story elements for guests of all ages.

This installation is inspired by Page 12 of The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.

There are 9 The Jolly Postman installations to find around Southport town centre this October Half Term.

You can also enjoy Fringe Festival events at various venues and the Festival of Stories at The Atkinson as part of Books Alive!
