Tributes will be paid at this weekend’s football game between Southport FC and FC United of Manchester to the three girls who lost their lives in the Hart Street tragedy on Monday.

The club cancelled their planned pre-season friendly against Morecambe last night as a mark of respect to those affected.

This Saturday (3rd August 2024) the game will go ahead, with both sides paying their respects to Bebe King, six; Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven; and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine.

The young girls tragically lost their lives after being killed having gone to enjoy a Taylor Swift themed dance and yoga class.

The two clubs will also pay tribute to family, friends and loved ones, as well as all who have been impacted by the tragic events.

In a statement, Southport FC said: “The club can confirm that during Saturday’s fixture, we will be raising funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

“To do this, the regular matchday 50/50 will operate slightly differently, with every penny raised from every ticket purchased acting as a donation to Alder Hey rather than a raffle entry.

“The club can further confirm that majority shareholders Big Help Group will match every penny raised during this fundraiser, to ensure maximum support is provided to continue Alder Hey’s life-saving work.

“Finally, the club wishes to pay special tribute to the emergency responders whose selfless dedication and heroism this week has been an inspiration to us all.

“To demonstrate the club’s respect and gratitude we wish to offer the blue light card holding home supporters free entry to Saturday’s fixture.”
