Pupils from Linaker Primary School in Southport enjoyed an exciting day of sport at the Lancashire Cricket Foundation’s Get Girls in the Game Festival, where their all-girls team impressed.
Pupils demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the event, winning every match they played.
The school, which is part of the Endeavour Learning Trust, wants all pupils to feel involved and welcome in every sport.
The English Cricket Board has said it is committed to making cricket a truly gender-balanced sport, from entry level in All Stars Cricket all the way up to the England Women’s team.
The festival provided a positive and inspiring environment for girls to develop confidence, skills and a love of cricket.
Headteacher Mark Cunniffe praised the pupils’ achievements, saying:
“We are incredibly proud of our pupils. They represented Linaker Primary School brilliantly, showing determination, teamwork and a fantastic attitude.
“Winning every game is a wonderful achievement, but even more important was the way they supported one another and embraced the spirit of the event.”
“Opportunities like this are invaluable in encouraging girls to be active, confident and ambitious.”
