With only days to go until a fundraising family festival at Southport Pleasureland on Sunday 1st September 2024, the Southport Royal British Legion, who have been integral in organising the event, have issued a plea to the whole community to get behind Southport Pleasureland’s ambitious fundraising efforts.

Two new acts have just been announced as part of the line-up.

Ian Lawton is former lead singer of Manchester band 1913. Ian has forged a solo career with his new project ETTO and has toured Europe with America and the late great Chuck Berry.

Manchester’s own new school Dolly Parton, Neeve Zahra, will also take to the stage. Neeve has become a rising star in the UK country music scene. Her unique voice and mature lyrics have garnered attention from industry professionals and fans alike. She prides herself on her stripped back soulful simplicity: Four chords and the truth.

There will be acts performing on three stages throughout the day, roaming performers across the park, and vehicle displays and craft stalls.

Nick McEntee Chairman of Royal British Legion Southport said:

“We wanted to be part of creating something really special.

“The town has been through so much, and it’s at times like these that we need to work as a community to support one another and pull together.

“As a community, Southport has already shown what can be achieved when we all stand together and we’re proud to have been able to lend our experience and expertise to help Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis and the Pleasureland team to bring this event together as part of their ambition to raise £1 million for local hospitals and North West Air Ambulance.

“The team behind this event has been amazing at putting together a truly fantastic line-up of entertainment in a very short period of time, and we know it’s going to be a great day.”

Norman Wallis, owner of Southport Pleasureland said,

“This event is only the beginning of our larger plans to raise £1 million. North West Air Ambulance played such a vital role in saving young lives on July 29th. Given that they are entirely reliant on donations from the public, we wanted to make sure they were included in our fundraising efforts.

“By purchasing a ticket for the family festival at Pleasureland on Sunday 1st September, people will be directly contributing to some incredibly worthy causes, and also participating in something really special.”

Emma Pearson, Fundraising Manager at the North West Air Ambulance Charity said

“We’d like to thank Southport Pleasureland and the Royal British Legion for including the North West Air Ambulance Charity in the Southport Together event. It’s amazing what they’ve been able to pull together and it sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic day for everyone involved.”

TV and radio personality Claire Simmo will be adding her trademark sparkle to the event. She said,

“I was born and bred in Southport and I love this town. I am really proud to be involved with this event and to do my part to support everyone involved in this terrible tragedy.”

Guests will be able to enjoy the rhythmic stylings of Liverpool Samba Reggae Drummers Batala Mersey. Founded in 2015, the band’s mission is to create bonds through the spirit, celebration and spectacle of samba drumming, dance and carnival. Their addition is sure to add something special to the day.

Little ones should keep their eyes peeled for Anna and Elsa.

If trucks are more their thing, you can head over to the vehicle display.

And of course, a day at Pleasureland wouldn’t be complete without the rides! And the fun isn’t just for the kids. There’s plenty happening across the park to keep everyone entertained all day long.

Gates open at 11am and tickets are £15 each.
