The Southport Hospital Spinal Injuries Unit and EPMA have won the Quality Improvement and Innovation Award at the 2023 Time To Shine Awards.
The introduction of Electronic Prescribing Medicines Administration (EPMA) to the Spinal Injuries Unit has been a huge quality improvement project that has enabled staff to deliver medications in a safer and more time efficient way.
The teamwork shown by staff from a range of teams to make this work for the benefit of the patients has been exceptional.
A finalist in the Awards is Lauren-Jade Otto.
Lauren-Jade has overseen huge improvements in the utilisation of the theatres at Sothport and Ormskirk hospitals and has worked with all the speciality teams to ensure ongoing improvements in this vital area.
The work she has undertaken is now held up as best practice and is being followed by other Trusts across the country.
Rheumatology Specialist Nurses were also celebrated as a Finalist.
This team of experienced and dedicated nurses provides outstanding care for all their patients either within the outpatient department or via its newly established telephone advice line which has helped provide a better, more efficient service.
They are always looking to develop their services further and are continually focused on the delivery of patient centred care.
Individuals and teams from a wide range of areas were celebrated for their “amazing commitment’’ to providing the best possible care for local patients and their families at the 2023 Time to Shine Awards.
It was hosted by Liverpool radio personality Peter Price while sponsors included Vinci Facilities, Hill Dickinson and Weightmans.
