Southport Hesketh Round Table is bringing the yellow 6-foot teddy bear out of hibernation for the weekend to visit the schools and businesses of Southport on Friday 15th November 2024

The charity that manages some of the largest family events in Southport including the Bonfire, Santa Float and Mad Dog 10K is bringing the yellow 6-foot teddy bear out of hibernation for the weekend to visit the schools and businesses of Southport on Friday 15th November 2024.

Chris ‘Coldplay’ Martin, 2024 Southport Hesketh Round Table Chairman, is expecting a huge response for visits within Southport and the local communities.

He said: “2023 was the most schools and local businesses visited ever in a day for us. A truly tremendous effort with over £800 raised and we hope to beat it this year raising more money from donations for BBC1’s Children In Need day.

“It’s been a very sad summer since what happened to our town on 29th July and we are all still grieving and coming to terms with everything, which is why we want to bring a bit of fun back to the schools and children of Southport.

“If any schools within Southport would like a quick visit for photos get in contact with me directly on [email protected]

“We understand if there will be additional security measures in place and we will abide by whatever we need to do to bring the smiles to those children’s faces.

“Also, if any local businesses would like a photo and pass over any donations raised for the Children In Need charity, we bank it on behalf of them directly, so it’s a win-win scenario for everyone – please let us know before 11th October 2024.

“As we prepare for the Santa float routes, we’re thrilled to work alongside local charities and community projects who generously help us each night. These partnerships not only spread holiday cheer but also receive donations along the way, supporting their incredible work in our community.
