Southport FC hosts ‘Fans Supporting Foodbanks’ initiative as they host Marine in local derby

Supporters heading to the Southport FC v Marine local derby at Haig Avenue today (Friday 3rd April 2026) are invited to bring along some items to support the club’s ‘Fans Supporting Foodbanks’ initiative. 

Today is matchday and it’s a local derby as the Sandgrounders return to action for the first time since 5,600 fans cheered them on during their FA Trophy Semi Final defeat to Southend. 

Marine, situated just down the road in Crosby, are coming to Haig Avenue as Southport look for some Boxing Day revenge.

Kick off is 3pm with entertainment on from 1pm.

A Southport FC spokesperson said: “We are proud to announce that the Southport FC Community Foundation is teaming up with Fans Supporting Foodbanks for our upcoming fixture against Marine.

“No-one in our community should have to go hungry. We are reaching out to our incredible supporters to help us make a difference this Good Friday (3rd April 2026).”

Where & When

• Location: Look for the donation van parked on Haig Avenue.

• Time: They will be there from 1pm until the end of the match.

They are especially in need of:

• Non-perishable food (Pasta, tinned goods, cereals)

• Toiletries & Household cleaning products

• Pet food (Dog/Cat)

• Long-life milks and sauces
