Southport FC will begin their 2020/21 league season in October.

It is hoped that fans may be allowed back into stadiums by then.

Following a meeting of the National League the Board has determined the following:

The scheduled start date of the 2020/21 season is Saturday October 3.

46 league fixtures will be scheduled in the National Division and either 42 or 40 league fixtures will be scheduled in the North and South Divisions.

The North & South Divisions will commence the season with the FA Cup Second Qualifying round on Saturday October 3.

The final league match of the normal season is scheduled for Saturday 29 May 2021 subject to FA approval.

The end of season play offs are scheduled to take place in June 2021.

The club is currently in the process of planning a set of pre-season fixtures and will be able to do this more easily now that a start date for the new National League North campaign has finally been confirmed.

With the restrictions regarding Covid-19 evolving all the time, it remains to be seen whether the pre-season games will be played behind closed doors or how many, if any, can be held in public.

The club is in dialogue with the relevant authorities and other clubs as we look to finalise a full schedule so the players are ready for the new campaign when it begins.

Southport FC are pleased to announce away games against Witton Albion on Tuesday August 11 and Nantwich Town on Saturday September 5. Further details about these fixtures will follow, including confirmation as to whether supporters can attend.

The club has a full pre-season of matches planned and will confirm the games once they have the agreement of their opponents.
