This year’s Star Trekk walk raising money for Queenscourt Hospice in Southport has been cancelled today due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.
Organisers now hope to stage the walk in the Autumn instead.
The popular annual 10km event was due to take place on Friday, May 1.
This year organisers were hoping to attract over 1,000 walkers for the first time.
Star Trekk is one of the biggest fundraisers in the hospice calendar.

A Queenscourt spokesman said: “Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 we have had to take the very sad decision to postpone the forthcoming Star Trekk night walk.
“Our aim is to reschedule Star Trekk in September or October this year and for those of you who have already kindly registered for the event, we would be very grateful for your continuing support by allowing us to retain your registration fee and therefore keep you registered for the event.
“We will of course let you know as soon as a new date has been agreed for later in 2020.
“New registrations for the event have now suspended until the rescheduled date has been announced.
“Thank you for your understanding in this matter. As a small local charity with a big reach, without your support we simply could not continue to care for people in West Lancashire, Southport and Formby when they need us the most.”
