Southport Football Club have cancelled their pre-season friendly with Morecambe on Tuesday (30th July 2024) following the Hart Street tragedy.
The club, on Haig Avenue, will welcome people at the Club Lounge 10am-3pm this Tuesday with specialist support available.
In a statement they said: “Southport FC are extremely saddened by the unfolding news of today’s events.
We want to offer our club lounge space to the community which will be open from 10am on Tuesday (30th July 2024) .

A statement said: “Given the tragic events of today band following extensive engagement with relevant local stakeholders we have taken the decision to cancel tomorrow night’s preseason friendly with Morecambe FC out of respect to those who have so tragically lost their lives, and to those who will be deeply impacted by this horrible tragedy.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Southport Football Club are with those affected and we extend our deepest condolences to all those affected.
“The Club would like to reiterate that on Tuesday the Club Lounge will be open 10am-3pm for those who wish to gather, share their thoughts, and find support during this difficult time.
“Specialist support staff will be on hand to offer assistance and comfort to those who need it.
“For those who have purchased tickets we will provide information on refunds in the coming days.”
