The Southport community is coming together in many ways to support one another and everyone affected by today’s devastating attack.

Witnesses Sought: Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything, or who has information that could help our investigation or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Anyone who has been affected by this incident, can contact our Victim Care Merseyside service for help and support. 

Our hub of local, trained staff is here to provide free, emotional and practical support tailored to your needs.

Victim Care Merseyside: Contact them for help whether you have reported a crime to the police or not by calling Freephone 0808 175 3080 on weekdays between 8am and 6pm or request support online at any time at www.victimcaremerseyside.org.”

Southport College: is open today if you would like to come, sit and chat over a brew, they are open from 11am to 3pm. Everyone is welcome.

Southport FC: Southport FC are extremely saddened by the unfolding news of today’s events.

We want to offer our club lounge space to the community which will be open from 10am on Tuesday (30th July 2024) .

As a community and a club we are stronger as one

Clare Carragher: ‘Local community leaders and emergency services will be out around Southport on Tuesday, with information regarding support networks for anyone in the community who feels that they need support. We must stay strong together’

Christ Church Southport: “We are heartbroken about the events that have happened in our town today. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected. For those fighting in hospital, for those whose world has fallen apart, for those who are afraid, for those who first responded, for those who know someone that was there, for our town. 

Christ Church will be open tonight (Monday 29th July 2024) for quiet prayer, reflection, and a place to talk, from 7-9pm. It will also be open this week during these times: 

Tuesday 10am-12 noon 

Wednesday 10am-12 noon 

Thursday 2-4pm 

Friday 10am-12 noon 

Saturday 10am-2pm

St. Philip and St Paul with Wesley: will be open from 8am on Tuesday (30 July 2024) until 10pm, for our local community.

All are welcome to come in and sit in quiet and light a candle.

We pray for all those in our community grieving, watching and waiting.

The Cherish Centre (65-67 Albert Road, Southport, PR9 9LN) will be open between 10am – 3pm this Thursday 1st August 2024, for any emergency personnel (particularly those involved in or affected by today’s horrific events) to call in during the ref. breaks for free hot drinks, cakes, biscuits, toast, etc.
