Comedy-goers will be able to enjoy some of the finest Italian street food in town when the 2022 Southport Comedy Festival takes place.
Guests will be able to tuck into delicious fresh pasta, calzones, arancini and other delicacies courtesy of local restaurateur Attilio Sergi, both before gigs during intervals and on their way home.
Attilio operates the successful Pasta 51 Express outlets which are based in Liverpool city centre and at Southport Market, as well as running the thriving Trattoria 51 restaurants in Liverpool city centre and Southport town centre.
He said: “I have been involved with Southport Comedy Festival since it was taken over by Brendan Riley and Val Brady 12 years ago. They have done a superb job of making it what it has become.
“Southport Comedy Festival is an event that Southport should be really proud of.
“I am looking forward to being there this year with Pasta 51 Express, with some delicious fresh baked pasta, arancini, calzone and more.
“Most of the shows start at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm, so people can come early before the show, maybe after work, enjoy some delicious pasta, have a drink with friends, and then take their seats for some fantastic live comedy.
“We will also be serving food during the interval, and at the end of each show, so people can grab something to eat whenever suits them.
“As always with Pasta 51, our food will be freshly made, it will be delicious, but it will also be quick, you won’t have to wait.”
This year’s Southport Comedy Festival, in association with Hallliwell Jones BMW, takes place in a luxury heated and seated marquee in Victoria Park in Southport from 30th September to 16th October 2022, for 17 fun-filled days of laughter.
Audiences can enjoy Festival favourites including Jason Byrne, Paul Sinha, Jo Caulfield, Ed Byrne, Reginald D Hunter and Jimeoin joined by the likes of Al Murray The Pub Landlord, Milton Jones, Chris McCausland and Maisie Adam.
Jeff Green will fly in to perform his only UK gig at Southport Comedy Festival this year, while there is a Disco Bingo Night in aid of Southport Flower Show and a Comedy Bingo Night raising money for Queenscourt Hospice.
Some of the best young comedians in the country will be competing once again in the Southport New Comedian of the Year contest.
Attilio Sergi said: “Southport Comedy Festival has gone from strength to strength over the years.
“It was a shame when it had to be postponed during the pandemic, but it has come back again this year with an unbelievable line-up.
“I love working with Southport Comedy Festival organisers Bren and Val. They have so much energy! The journey they have been on to organise this event has been fantastic. They are very well connected and have brought some top quality comedians to Southport once again.
“Southport Comedy Festival is definitely going to put a big smile on Southport’s face for the three weeks that this event is on! Viva Southport!”
