Fans favourite Marcus Carver has returned to the club on loan.
Manager Liam Watson hailed him as “just the type of player we need at this time” about a player who scored The Sandgrounders’ Goal of the Season last year.
A Southport FC spokesperson said: “We are delighted to confirm that Marcus Carver has returned to Southport, on loan from Scunthorpe United.
“A real fans favourite in his time at the club, Marcus made 28 league appearances for Southport scoring 16 goals plus 7 in the cups, scoring 5, including the 21/22 SFC Goal Of The season winner against Chorley.
“He left to join Hartlepool in January 2022 and subsequently moved on to Scunthorpe but playing opportunities have been limited.”
Manager Liam Watson has been frustrated in his attempts to get Marcus back at the club and is relieved to finally get the loan move over the line.
He said “Marcus is just the type of player we need at this time, he will add experience and support to our attacking options and he can’t wait to get back playing again. I’m sure everyone will give him a great welcome on Saturday.”
Welcome Back Marcus!
The next Southport FC fixture is at Home against Leamington this Saturday (24th September 2022).
