Southport College

Southport College is inviting people to take a look around, as it launches its first ever Virtual Open Event.

The physical doors might still have to be closed to visitors due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

But today the virtual doors have been flung open, as Southport College unveils its first online open event.

Head of Marketing at the College, Ruth Start, said: “With recent events putting a temporary halt to college visitors and meaning we had to cancel our planned June open evening, we have had to find new and innovative ways to showcase our fantastic facilities and introduce our friendly and supportive staff.

“We wanted to do things our own way, so our Virtual Open Event mixes fabulous 360 degree photography of all our facilities, all shot by one of the team on a single state of the art camera, and video messages from our staff, recorded as selfies at home, with an interactive experience allowing you to find out all about the courses we offer and apply online instantly.

“You start at ‘reception’, then select the course you are interested in and zoom from one area of the college to another, all with a swipe of your finger!”

The virtual open event is ideal for any Year 11s who are still deciding on their plans for September and Year 10s who want to start the planning process early. It is also aimed at any adults who may be thinking about returning to education, whether it be for a part-time course to upskill, or to study for a full honours degree.

The virtual experience will be available to visitors throughout June and people are welcome to “visit” as many times as they like – ideal if you want to have a look first and then share the great course you’ve found with a parent or friend.
