The magic of Christmas is coming to Southport today (Saturday 18th November) with lots of family friendly festive events for people to enjoy!
Here are some of the things you won’t want to miss:
1 – Southport Bandstand – The Southport Festive Fun Day is taking place between 1pm and 5pm.
The event is organised by Southport BID and is a celebration to kick-start the Christmas season here in Southport.
There will be live performances on the Lord Street Bandstand between 1pm and 5pm, as well as festive activities across the town centre.
The event will feature a great cast of local performers and arts groups. Performances will include character shows, dance groups, pantomimes, live music and Christmas carols.
2 – The Atkinson – Arts and Crafts Market – 10.00-16.00 Talented artisans from across Sefton offer one-of-a-kind creations will be displaying their wares.
3 – Wayfarers Arcade – Character visits – 13.00 onwards See festive characters including Father Christmas and Mrs Claus, plus the panto characters of the forthcoming Dick Whittington pantomime! The arcade is also hosting a book signing by Ruth Spillane with her new Southport Illustrated book.
4 – Silcocks Pier Family Restaurant, Funland and Carousel – 11am-1pm see local author Kayla Woodfine signing copies of her new book, Nurses Have Super Flower Powers. Enjoy games inside Silcock’s Funland with the chance to win your Christmas presents in the Prize Shop. Enjoy rides on the historic Silcock’s Carousel.
5 – Southport Market – Winter Christmas Artisan Market – 11.00-18.00 30+ local independent makers at Southport Market’s Extravaganza Space for an extra special day of Christmas Shopping!
Cambridge Walks – Festive Fair 11.00-17.00 Craft stall, games, carols, and more!
6 – The Atkinson – Festive Make it! Craft Workshop 13.00-16.00 A Christmas-themed arts and crafts workshop for all the family.
The Vincent Hotel – Santa’s Grotto 13.00-17.00 An enchanting meeting with Santa. £10 per child. Bookings can be made at 01704 883 800
7 – The Entertainer – Santa’s Letter Service – 11.00-15.00 Write your letter to Santa and our store elves will ensure Santa gets the letter and sends you a reply. Plus, expect visits from Happyland Santa throughout the day!
Great Reads – The Bear and The Reindeer Colouring Competition – All day A colouring competition for children to celebrate the arrival of The Bear and Reindeer in the Town Hall Gardens. A £25 Great Reads voucher will go to the winner!
8 – The Southport Coaster – 1’st Birthday Celebrations – 12.00 onwards Celebrate the anniversary of Southport Coaster with live music, fire eaters, stilt walkers, and a cider and sausage festive on all day!
9 – The Pavilion – Outdoor Barbeque – 12.00 onwards – An al fresco festive barbeque at The Pavilion.
10 – The Vincent Hotel – Hotel Lights Switch On 17.15 The Vincent Hotel will turn on the beautiful hotel illuminations, joined by hosts Dune Radio and Santa himself!
11 – Town Hall Gardens – The day is also the perfect opportunity to visit The Bear and The Reindeer illuminations for the first time!
