Pubs and bars in Southport town centre are brewing up some fun for the first Southport Beer Week in May.

The town-wide beer festival will take place from Thursday 22nd May 2025 to Sunday 25th May 2025.  The event is set to be a superb celebration of real ale and great beer hosted by pubs and bars around Southport town centre.

Visitors can take part in an ale trail, tasting beers at the participating venues and collecting stamps in a Beer Week booklet as they go.

Collect enough stamps and be in with a chance of winning a £250 voucher (to spend at a Southport business of your choice), as well as runner-up prizes including beers from local breweries.

It’s the perfect excuse to explore different venues around the town centre, with nineteen venues already confirmed and over eighty beers expected to be on offer throughout the festival.

There’s plenty to enjoy over the four days of Southport Beer Week.

The Windmill pub on Seabank Road is set to celebrate with extra beers and an outdoor BBQ on Saturday 24th May.

Beer bar Tap & Bottles will be hosting a number of activities including a Rivington Brewery tap takeover and classic pub games.

Award-winning pub The Guesthouse will host a special beer-themed quiz on Thursday 22nd May and The Sir Henry Seagrave will host a ‘Dark Vs Light’ mini beer-festival, showcasing both pale ales and darker beers.

Many of the venues, including The Masons Arms, The Fool, Kokomo, Punch Tarmey’s and the Southport Coaster, will be marking the occasion with live music.  The Grazing Lounge of Bold Street will be offering street food alongside their famous pies, flavoured with ale from Southport Brewery.

Local historian David Walshe is organising a ‘Lost and Old Pubs of Southport’ guided walk on Saturday 24th May.  Tickets for the guided walk are available here.

A special beer has been brewed by Southport Brewery to celebrate the event.  ‘Southport Beer Week Bitter’ will be available a selection of venues in the lead-up to the event.

Local producers Hex Brewery will also launch a brand new, one-off beer on the opening day of the Beer Week.

Southport BID is working alongside Southport Pubwatch members and town centre venues to make this event happen.

Original artwork for the event has been designed by local artist ‘Ruthie Illustrations’ (Ruth Ryder).
