The Children’s Workshop offers a  fun, creative and educational afternoon for children and young people aged 9+

Event organiser Gemma Collins said: “We’re bringing children and young people together for a special afternoon exploring Black history, heritage, identity and the stories of the Windrush generation.

“Through creative activities, discussion, poetry and storytelling, children will have the opportunity to discover more about the people and stories that have helped shape our communities.

“Award-winning actor, poet, storyteller and producer Victor Richards will lead his unique Three Words Poetry Workshop, encouraging children to use just three words as a starting point to create their own poem and story.

“The workshop will explore roots, family, history, heritage and identity, encouraging young people to think about where they come from, what matters to them and the stories they want to tell.

“Everyone has a story to tell — and this is an opportunity for young people to find their own words and have their voices heard.”

It will be followed by a special screening of Milestone: Streets Paved With Gold

This is a powerful 62-minute film celebrating the Windrush generation, followed by a Q&A with producer Victor Richards.

Whether your child already knows about Windrush history or is discovering it for the first time, this is an opportunity to:

  • Learn about Black history and the Windrush generation
  • Explore roots, heritage and identity
  • Create their own poetry
  • Share their own stories and experiences
  • Ask questions and take part in discussion
  • Celebrate the richness of our communities
