A sparkling Christmas lights display in Southport has raised more than £2,000 for charity.
The famed Sidney Road Lights Christmas 2021 display was lit up on December 11 and was followed by a party night with local dance acts.
The display was then on every night throughout December, ending on New Year’s Day, bringing hundreds of people to the road in Churchtown.
This is the fifth year that the light display has taken place and each year it raises money for Freshfields Animal Rescue.
Fletchers sponsored the festive lights display this year which meant that all the money raised was able to go directly to the charity.
Steve and Janice Henshall and their son, Tim, who works at Fletchers, have now presented Freshfields Animal Rescue with £2,060.
Steve Henshall said: “We are so pleased to have been able to raise such a great amount for Freshfields Animal Rescue. They estimate that they need £2,000 a day just to stay open, so all fundraising is very important for them.

“We are very grateful to everyone who came along, supported us, and made a donation.
“The shows couldn’t have gone ahead without the sponsorship from Fletchers. It was a really good event thanks to the help and generosity of Fletchers and we are so pleased to have met our fundraising target for the year.”
Alex Kenny, Chief Marketing Officer at Fletchers, said: “We are so pleased to hear how much was raised and we are delighted to have been a part of this event. We know that it’s a firm favourite for so many local residents and it’s great that it was such a success for the charity.”
There are more displays planned throughout the year and all the details can be seen at www.sidneyroadlights.co.uk.
