Southport singer Matthew Fearon is taking the plunge with a charity abseil at Liverpool Football Club to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice.

Matt is making the 100 ft leap on Saturday (11th May 2024).

People are welcome to sponsor him via his JustGiving page here

With a target of £500, he has already raised nearly £1,000.

He said: “Matthew Fearon AKA Captain Cracks Sparrow here. I’m embarking on a daring mission— The Anfield Abseil!

“As I prepare to descend 100 feet down, I find myself hesitant to admit my fear of heights.

“Yet, I know that overcoming this challenge is essential, not just for personal growth, but most importantly to raise crucial funds for Queenscourt Hospice.

“This journey began unexpectedly when my good friend Hayley Jones posted on Facebook about the three remaining spots and the short one-week deadline.

“I found myself drawn to this, and I impulsively decided to take on this incredible challenge.

“While my fundraising target is £500, I need to raise at least £250 to make a meaningful impact.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the exceptional care Queenscourt Hospice provides, even in the face of heartbreaking loss.

“I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to Hayley Jones for her unwavering dedication to Queenscourt Hospice. Her ongoing charity work is a testament to her selflessness and compassion.

“I know that money is tight, but any donation is much appreciated by me and of course I’ll send you an absurd voice note to express this gratitude.”

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.

Queenscourt provides access to Specialist Palliative Care either at home (including care homes), hospital or in Queenscourt via the Inpatient Unit or as an Outpatient. Queenscourt at Home supports patients, and those important to them, to be cared for in their own home, if that is their preference.
