A Service of Commemoration will take place in Southport this weekend to mark 40 years since the end of the Falklands Conflict.

The event has been organised by Southport Royal British Legion and will take place at Christ Church on Lord Street in Southport.

The service will be held from midday this Sunday (19th June 2022).

Guests including Southport MP Damien Moore will be in attendance.

Southport Royal British Legion Chair Major Nick McEntee said: “This Sunday, 19th June 2022, we invite you and your family to join us for a service of commemoration of the Falklands Conflict.

“A total of 255 British Military personnel, 649 Argentines and three islanders lost their lives in the 74 day conflict, which came to an end on 14th June, 1982, 40 years ago.

“Please join us for a multi faith service, which will include testimonies from local Falklands Veterans.

“The service begins at 12.00 at Christ Church, Lord Street, Southport. It will be followed by tea and coffee in the Church hall.

“We will then, as ever, head to a local pub to share memories and enjoy friendship. All are welcome.

“Lest we Forget.”
