This photo features the late Brian Aughton from Tarleton Specimen Plants cutting trees on Albert Road in Southport, where the Cathay Gardens restaurant and the Sandown Court block of flats now stand.
On the corner of Lord Street and Leicester Street is Hatton’s – ‘distributors of Austin cars’.
The building was previously home to Pizza Express, until the restaurant relocated further along Lord Street, into the premises previously occupied by Ask.

Last week the building was put up for rent by Southport estate agent David Davies Sales & Lettings, sparking huge interest in the site.
