The award-winning Southport Hookers have unveiled their new creation, in tribute to Queenscourt Hospice ahead of the charity’s Star Trekk walk in Southport this Friday!

The Southport Hookers won the Sefton Arts Award sponsored by Fitton Estates at the 2026 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards at The Grand in Southport on 24th April.

They’ve been busy since then, creating their new postbox topper on Scarisbrick New Road, featuring Queenie the Bee and three Star Trekkers.

If you spot it on the Star Trekk walk – or before – we’d love to see your pictures of it in Stand Up For Southport!

The Southport Hookers said: “We’re excited to share our brand new postbox topper, created in support of Queenscourt Hospice.

“Our topper features the Queenscourt bee mascot alongside three Star Trek walkers, all dressed up and ready for the big event!

“You’ll find it on Scarisbrick New Road, just in time for the Star Trek Walkers passing by this Friday evening (6th May). Be sure to keep an eye out as you go past!

“Good luck to everyone taking part in this fantastic event — we hope you raise lots of money for such an amazing charity.

“Don’t forget to stop and snap a photo with the topper along the way — we’d love to see your pictures!”

The final call has been issued for people wanting to take part in this year’s Star Trekk walk for Queenscourt Hospice.

Southport will become a sea of yellow this Friday (8th May 2026) as supporters of the charity take part in a fun 10k walk that starts and ends at Adventure Coast Southport.

A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “It’s the final call – tickets close today! “This is your last chance to be part of Star Trekk 2026.

“Grab your tickets before they close on Wednesday 6th May 2026, and join hundreds of walkers for a night of fun, community and fundraising for a 10k walk under the stars.”

In April, Queenscourt Hospice announced that it will be reducing its in-patient ward from ten to five beds, as it continues to face financial uncertainty.

The news comes just four weeks after the hospice stated that it was being forced to consider reducing the vital services it provides for patients, as it continues to operate with a £2 million deficit.

The need for people to come out and support Queenscourt’s fundraising efforts is greater than ever, as our hospice marks 35 years since it was officially opened by Princess Diana in 1991.

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.

Since Star Trekk began 20 years ago, wonderful trekkers have raised over £1million.

The evening starts at Adventure Coast Southport with a fun party atmosphere where you can enjoy the pre Trekk entertainment, with the walk starting at 7.30pm.

People then head out along Marine Drive, over the Marine Way Bridge, past Silcock’s Funland, down Nevill Street and onto Lord Street, up Eastbank Street and Scarisbrick New Road, past Queenscourt Hospice on Town Lane, through Birkdale Village and then back to the start to collect their medals.

There is a different coloured Star Trekk shirt each walk, with yellow the colour for this year.
