A Fundraising Manager who works tirelessly to secure the funds needed to ‘Keep Queenscourt Hospice In Service’ has been awarded the Sefton Community Impact Award sponsored by Carlsberg.

Liz Hartley was presented with the accolade by Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside Peter Oliver OBE at the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards at The Grand in Southport.

Liz was among local heroes from across Sefton honoured in 13 categories in a year which saw thousands of submissions sent in.

Earlier this year, Queenscourt Hospice stated that it is being forced to consider reducing what  it provides for patients, as it continues to operate with a £2 million deficit.

The need for people to come out and support Queenscourt’s fundraising efforts is greater than ever.

As Fundraising Manager for Queenscourt Hospice, Liz Hartley never stops.

This Friday (8th May 2026) she will lead her Fundraising team as they organise the annual Star Trekk in Southport, an event which sees thousands of supporters complete a 10k walk through Southport.

Queenscourt, which provides compassionate care to families across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire, needs to raise 80% of the £7 million it needs to secure every year through fundraising.

Liz Hartley and her team play a lead role in doing that in a tireless, selfless and determined way – leading from the front.

When there was a Charity Shark Dive at Blue Planet Aquarium in March, Liz was the first one to leap into the tank to raise funds.

She is the lead organiser of existing major events such as Star Trekk and the Southport Santa Sprint, liaising with local businesses and encouraging members of the public to sign up.

She is always looking to create something new and exciting, making Queenscourt engage with new audiences.

She created the spectacular Strictly dance event, which has been a sell-out success each year.

Liz was behind the new Jail and Bail fundraiser, which sees 12 local figures ‘arrested’ ‘locked up’ at Southport Police Station and then set £999 in ‘bail’ to secure their ‘parole’.

Also new this year is the new Queenscourt Masquerade Ball.

You’ll find her at BNI meetings at 6am in the morning to Sandgrounders Business Networking events at 8pm at night.

Liz is a non-stop Queenscourt champion.
