Southport & Birkdale Sports Club is inviting people to support a fundraiser for their First XI Captain Chris Cunningham, after he was admitted to hospital for several weeks.
Chris’ hospital admission came as “a massive shock” to him and his family.
Now his friends at S&B are doing all they can to try and raise funds for him with a special night at the club on Saturday, 24th February 2024, from 6pm onwards.
All tickets act as a donation to the fundraiser. Even if you can’t come there is an option to purchase a non-attending ticket and all proceeds will go to Chris.

An S&B spokesperson said: “Our 1st XI Captain, Chris Cunningham, is currently in hospital being treated for pancreatitis.
“Chris was admitted towards the end of December and is expected to remain in hospital for another four to six weeks, with further hospital visits over the next few months.
“This was a massive shock to Chris, his family and the Club.
“Unfortunately whilst being treated and in his recovery, he is unable to work. With that in mind, the Club has received many messages wanting to support Chris in any way we can to make sure that he can concentrate on his recovery without the burden of worrying about finances.
“To that effect, the Club have organised a fundraiser for Chris on Saturday 24th February from 6pm onwards – an initiative which has been instigated and led by S&B members in its entirety. “The Club invites anyone to purchase an online ticket for £15 where all donations received will go to Chris.
“The night will include entertainment from Chris’s friend, Bradley Palin; a buffet provided by D’Vine Catering; a raffle and other fun games; as well as finishing off the night with karaoke.
“All proceeds raised throughout the evening will go to Chris in order to support him and his family through this difficult time. I do hope you can support this event, and we encourage anyone who cannot attend to still purchase a ticket.”
