This Friday (11th June 2021) Sandgrounder Radio is celebrating its fifth birthday!
The station, which broadcasts from Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street in Southport, launched five years ago on Saturday 11th June 2016.
Sandgrounder Radio broadcasts on DAB+ Digital Radio across The Liverpool City Region and Fylde Coast area as well as broadcasting online too.
Sandgrounder Radio Content Director Andy Hilbert said: “We have had some amazing support from local people and businesses over the past five years, without them we really couldn’t do what we do.
“We’ve done so many things over the past five years. We’ve broadcast from the top of the Liver Building, we’ve helped host and support so many events in the local area, including the annual Star Trekk walk for Southport’s Queenscourt Hospice.
“Last year, Ofcom granted us permission to include the Fylde Coast as part of our editorial area too, thus enabling us to provide our local, commercial radio offering right along the North West Coast.”
The radio station also officially partnered with local company Peoples Bus to launch the ‘Sandgrounder Shuttle’ which you’ll see out and about across the local area.
Andy said: “We have lots planned over the coming months to celebrate our fifth year on-air including our Summer Tour which starts on Saturday 19th June down at Ocean Plaza in Southport.
“I’d also like to thank every member of our team who do amazing things day in and day out, both on-air and behind the scenes, again, without whom none of what we do would be possible.”
