Southport based respite charity, Revitalise and UK running events company RunThrough have announced the Southport Seaside 10k which will take place on Sunday 4th August 2024.

As the leading provider of accessible respite holidays for disabled people needing 24-hour care in the UK, Revitalise is an important lifeline in the UK disability and care sector.

As the nominated charity for the Southport Seaside 10k, Revitalise have been given 50 places to fill for the event. All participants who choose to run for Revitalise will receive free entry with the goal of fundraising £250 for the charity.

The 10k route will lap around Revitalise’s Sandpipers centre, with the finish line ending outside the centre which will see staff and guests cheering them on. The event has already recruited 900 runners and is only looking for more to join!

Rebecca Young, Director of Income Generation and Corporate Engagement said:

“We are absolutely delighted to partner with RunThrough for the Southport 10k event . Having this event take place right in our local community by the Sandpipers Centre is incredibly special to us. It not only brings our community together but also supports our mission to provide much-needed breaks for disabled people and their carers. We look forward to a successful event and thank everyone involved for their support for Revitalise.” – Rebecca Young, Director of Income Generation and Corporate Engagement

Matt Wood, Co-Founder of RunThrough, shared his excitement about the collaboration:

“We are incredibly proud to partner with Revitalise as our Charity of the Year for the Southport 10k. Their dedication to providing much-needed respite and care for disabled people and their carers aligns perfectly with our values at RunThrough. We believe in the power of community and inclusivity, and through this partnership, we hope to raise significant awareness and funds to support their invaluable work. We look forward to seeing our runners come together to support such an important cause.”

Living with a disability can be an ongoing challenge, both physically and emotionally. Holidays are essential, providing much-needed respite and preventing disabled people and their caregivers reaching breaking point. Revitalise often serves as a lifeline for maintaining relationships, pursuing personal interests and preventing social isolation for both disabled people and their carers.

Revitalise extends its sincere gratitude to the Southport community and to RunThrough for its support. Together, we can make a lasting impact and bring positive change to the lives of those who need it most.
