PEMFiT Merseyside is situated inside Everlast Gym at Ocean Plaza in Southport after substantial investment by owner Caroline Gillam. Caroline is a former midwife at Ormskirk Hospital who contracted long Covid during the pandemic and suffered with symptoms including chronic fatigue for many months. She tried various treatments, therapies and supplements in a bid to recover before a friend recommended PEMFiT.
Caroline Gillam said: “At the time, the nearest PEMFiT to me was based in Lancaster, I wasn’t sure whether it would help, but I was willing to try anything. The results were fantastic. I ended up making regular visits to PEMFiT Lancaster.
“While PEMFiT was available in other parts of the country, I felt we needed to be providing this service to the Merseyside community, so I invested in the world leading technology and opened my own PEMFiT studio within Everlast gym in Southport.”
Caroline spent several years working in the NHS, she trained at Fazakerley Hospital (now University Hospital Aintree) before working as a midwife at Ormskirk Hospital in Lancashire. She then trained in Bowen Therapy, which supports a variety of ailments and helps to relieve pain and increase motor function.
She said: “There wasn’t a lot available to help people with long Covid when I had it, I contracted Covid in 2021 and suffered badly with the effects of it for a long time. I was severely ill for two weeks and was then left with chronic fatigue and long Covid. It was a struggle to get through every single day, and I still needed to work.
“I spent a lot of time searching, and tried many different modalities to help, but nothing relieved my symptoms. A friend of mine recommended that I try PEMFiT and I started travelling to Lancaster for sessions. I was amazed at the impact they had on me. I felt better than I had felt for 20 years.”
