Renowned radio presenter Claire Simmo is joining a radio station in her home town this week.
Claire has been a familiar voice alongside Scott Hughes on the Home Run show and on the Breakfast Show with Rossie on Radio City for many years. She makes her debut on Sandgrounder Radio this Friday (June 5).
Southport-born Claire, a talented singer and dancer who studied at Ainsdale High School, has been a radio presenter on Greatest Hits Radio and Real Radio and a TV presenter on QVC.
She also works as a Community Fundraiser at St Helens and Whiston Hospitals.
She said: “The one person who made me want to be in radio was Paul Jordan.
“This Friday my very first show on Sandgrounder Radio in my home town will be following that legend!
“I am looking forward to being part of this team who have already made me feel so welcome.
“Make sure you’re listening between 2pm and 4pm this Friday! Mainly to see if I manage to break anything on my first day…”
Station Manager Andrew Hilbert said: “We’re delighted to announce that the lovely Claire Simmo is joining the team here at Sandgrounder Radio.
“Simmo is no stranger to radio, having been a familiar voice on the North West airwaves, out of Liverpool, for a number of years.
“She is a local girl from Southport and you will be hearing a lot more of her in the coming weeks.
“Simmo is making her Sandgrounder Radio Debut this Friday afternoon from 2pm.
“Welcome to the team Claire!”
