The Star Trekk walk for Queenscourt Hospice in Southport

Queenscourt Hospice has announced a prize freeze, saving people £5 off entry to this year’s Star Trekk 2021 walk in Southport – but you only have less than two days to sign up!

The price to enter will remain at £20 until noon this Thursday, 16th of September.

If you decide to enter the 10k event at the last minute, you are still welcome to walk up on the night, but the cost will be £25.

This year’s Star Trekk walk takes place this Friday (17th September).

One of the biggest fundraisers in the Queenscourt calendar, organisers are delighted to see the event return this year after it was postponed due to the Covid pandemic last year.

If you have any questions about Star Trekk please contact the Queenscourt Hospice fundraising team via email at: fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk or call them on: 01704 517420.

The evening starts at  Casablanca, Southport Pleasureland with a fun party atmosphere where you can enjoy the pre Trekk entertainment, with the 10k route starting at 7pm.

Walkers will then head down Marine Drive, past Ocean Plaza, before crossing the Marine Way Bridge, across Nevill Street, and onto Lord Street.

From Southport town centre, they turn up Eastbank Street and onto Scarisbrick New Road, and then turn off at Kew roundabout to head down Town Lane, walking past Queenscourt Hospice.

The route will then turn down Town Lane / Southbank Road, before turning left along Cemetery Road.

Heading through Birkdale, walkers will then walk along Liverpool Road, through Birkdale Village, and onto Weld Road, until they reach The Fisherman’s Rest pub.

From there they turn down Rotten Row and past the beautiful Victoria Park.

The final stretch sees walkers turning left at the Morrisons supermarket roundabout and hiking down Victoria Way, until they reach the finishing line by Dunes Splash World.

A Queenscourt Hospice spokesperson said: “We are delighted to share this year’s official Star Trekk route!

“Even if you are not taking part this year, we would still love your support as we pass through”.

The Star Trekk walk is a healthy, energising and fun event open to everyone, you can take part on your own, with family and friends, with your exercise class, with your work colleagues, the choice is yours.

Many trekkers walk in memory of a loved one or because Queenscourt has supported them personally, while others take part for a fun night out and to raise money for their local hospice.

A Queenscourt spokesperson said: “Since Star Trekk began 15 years ago, our amazing trekkers have raised over £830,000 and we always look forward to this flagship event in the Queenscourt calendar.

“Fundraising is at the discretion of the entrant but we kindly ask in addition to the entry fee for a minimum sponsorship to Queenscourt of £30.

“Whether you are a brand new ‘Trekker’ or you have been trekking with us before, we look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be a fun-filled evening.”

All Star Trekkers receive a t-shirt and medal.
