Si King from the Hairy Bikers will be revealing some of his very favourite recipes at the 2022 Southport Flower Show this Saturday (20th August).

Si, who is known to millions of TV viewers for his two-wheeled culinary tours around the globe, will be performing in the Cookery Theatre at Victoria Park at 12pm and at 2pm.

Along with his co-presenter Dave Myers, Si has fronted over 30 top-rated TV series, hosted Saturday Kitchen, and has appeared on a number of prime time TV shows including This Morning, The One Show and Lorraine.

The Hairy Bikers have also published more than 20 cookery books during a career spanning more than 20 years and have filmed a TV series in the USA – The Hairy Bikers Ride Route 66 and Hairy Bikers Go North.

In 2016, the Hairy Bikers filmed a royal street party at Cosby Road in Birkdale, organised by Jonathan Cunningham MBE, for their TV series looking at the relationship between chicken and eggs and cooking around the world.

He was due to star at Southport Flower Show two years ago and again last year, only for the event to be postponed due to the Covid pandemic.

Si King is delighted to be returning this weekend. He said: “I am so excited to be coming back to Southport for the Flower Show in 2022, It’s two years later than we expected but because of this I am looking forward to it even more.

“The Southport Flower Show really is brilliant and one of the highlights of Summer. I will cook some of our latest dishes, have a really good laugh and look forward to spending some time with everyone.”

Si King will be joined by some local cooking celebrities in the Cookery Theatre this Saturday too.

Attilio Sergi, who owns the popular Trattoria 51 restaurants in Southport and Liverpool, will be cooking at 1pm and 4pm.

Earlier this year, Attilio opened his brand new Pasta 51 Express outlet at Southport Market.

Amy Wilkinson, from Volare restaurant on Lord Street in Southport, will be cooking locally sourced beef at 3pm.

This Sunday the Cokkery Theatre hosts award-winning TV chef Ellis Barrie, who has startted on shows including Great British Menu; Alan Wycherley, Head Chef at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport; and multi award-winning chef Brian Mellor.

The Cookery Theatre has played host to a number of celebrities over the years, including Simon Rimmer, Ainsley Harriott and Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Once you’ve got your inspiration, visitors can head to the bustling Food Village where you can sample and buy produce from over 50 independent producers.

Alan Adams, General Manager of Southport Flower Show and Victoria Park said: “We are very excited to welcome Si to Southport this summer. He brings a wealth of experience, skill and expertise gained from touring the world filming the hugely popular Hairy Bikers shows.

“We are sure Si’s cookery demonstrations will be a highlight of the show for our visitors.”
