The Peets Plaice fishmongers shop in Southport is getting ready for one of its busiest times of year, with new products on sale and later opening times this Thursday.

The local, family-owned business, on Cambridge Road in Churchtown near Churchtown Lights,  is owned by local fisherman Kevin Peet and his wife Nicola.

Kevin, who has been fishing off the coast of Southport, is heading out on his fishing boat this week, looking to land the freshest brown shrimp and dover sole.

He uses the delicious shrimp he lands to create his own famous Southport potted shrimps.

Kevin recently invested in his own smoker, which he uses at his home in Marshside to home-smoke fish caught off the Southport coast, and also landed further up the coast at Fleetwood.

People are invited to call into his Peets Plaice shop, although people are also invited to order for home deliveries through the Peets Plaice website

Kevin said: “Easter is our second busiest time of year, behind Christmas!

“We expect there will be some queues this Thursday. We will be open until 7pm on Thursday this week, to give everyone a chance to get their fish ready for Good Friday!

“We are open on Good Friday too, which is also a busy day for us. We will stay open as long as we have fresh fish and seafood available.

“Easter is our busiest week so we have plenty of delicious fresh fish and seafood available.

“Our best sellers for this week include lobsters, crab claws, potted shrimps and salmon.

“You can treat your loved ones to a celebratory lobster platter, which is sure to impress!

“Please order in-store, by telephone on 01704 809340 or online through our Peets Plaice website by Wednesday.

“Why not try our new range of Cottage Delight products? We have everything from crackers to paella to curry paste, with a fantastic variety in store.”

The fish and seafood in-store is guaranteed to be fresh, with a large frozen seafood section also available, as well as a number of sauces and other products to create the perfect meal.

Kevin said: “Easter is always a really big week for us.

“This week I am also looking forward to heading out and doing some fishing off Southport, I am looking to catch some fresh brown shrimp and dover sole, ready for the shop.

“We also have some new things coming into our Peets Plaice shop, including crab claws, fresh lobster, and lobster platters.

“We are expecting big queues this Thursday so we are happy to stay open later for our customers, as well as being open on Friday, but we are also happy to home deliver if that is easier for people.”
